This year has been a year of health in our house. We have slowly been making changes not only to ourselves but also to our surroundings. One of the main changes has been cleaning up our diet and creating recipes that would help us do this easily was at the top of my list. So, I made a Homemade Ranch recipe that we have used almost weekly since March of this year.

With this simple recipe, you can make your own healthy homemade ranch dressing. It’s a perfect addition to any meal!

Why I Love This Homemade Ranch Recipe

The answer to this question is easy. If you have ever looked at the ingredient list on a bottle of ranch, you know that it is usually full of ingredients we can’t pronounce or even know what they are without searching on Google. There are a few cleaner options, but the cleaner versions can be pretty pricey, as with most things. So, I decided to make my own and haven’t purchased a bottle of ranch since! My Homemade Ranch is unquestionably better than anything I have bought from the store.

With this ranch recipe, you have the option to keep it thicker and use it as a dip, or you can use water to thin it out and make it more of a salad dressing consistency. Along with the options that make this recipe versatile, the ingredients are so simple, and I’m sure you already have most of them if not all of them.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Mayonnaise, homemade or store-bought
  • Lemon, freshly squeezed
  • Chives, dried or fresh
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Parsely, dried or fresh
  • Dill, or dried dill weed
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Water

Equipment Needed

  • Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring spoons
  • Lemon squeezer(optional)

How To Make Homemade Ranch

Making this homemade ranch couldn’t be easier. Add all of your ingredients into a bowl and whisk together. Thin out with water until you get your desired consistency. Taste and adjust salt as needed.  Refrigerate and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Homemade Ranch last?

We go through our ranch quickly, but I have had it last in the refrigerator for up to 10 days!

Do I have to use fresh herbs?

Absolutely not! I usually make this using dried herbs, but during the summer months, when my herb garden was bountiful, it was a great way to use up my freshly cut herbs!

What is a cleaner mayonnaise option?

I usually look for an avocado oil-based mayonnaise that is sugar-free and seed-oil-free. Be sure to read the ingredient labels.
