Do you love granola? Me too! This healthy, homemade granola is crunchy, naturally sweetened, and undoubtedly better than any store-bought granola!
If you’re trying to buy less prepackaged items from the grocery store this year(hello, it’s me!), then this granola recipe is for you! Homemade granola is one of those recipes that, once you make it, you will never grab another bag off the grocery store shelf. You will likely have all of the ingredients in your pantry already, and with a mixing bowl and an oven, you will have granola in under 30 minutes! This granola recipe is far healthier than a store-bought brand as it’s made with whole grain, naturally sweetened, and higher in protein and fiber with the added hemp hearts and flaxseeds. Homemade Granola is the perfect snack, topping on yogurt, cereal, smoothie bowls, or even ice cream!
Homemade Granola Ingredients
4 cup Oats – Rolled or old-fashioned
1.5 cups Nuts – I used Pecans and walnuts
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Salt
4 Tablespoons Hemp hearts
4 Tablespoons Ground flaxseeds
1/2 cup Maple syrup or honey
1/2 cup Oil – Avocado or melted coconut
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Homemade Granola Step-By-Step Instructions
Step One: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Step Two: In a large bowl, combine the oats, nuts, cinnamon, salt, hemp hearts, and flaxseed.
Step Three: In a separate bowl, mix together the syrup, oil, and vanilla
Step Four: Pour the syrup mixture over the oats and mix to combine thoroughly. You want to ensure the oat mixture is well coated with the wet ingredients.
Step Five: On a parchment-lined baking sheet, spread the granola in an even layer
Step Six: Bake the granola for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through. The granola should be golden on the edges. Don’t overcook it; it can burn quickly.
Step Seven: Let the granola fully cool on the pan. Then, break it into pieces and store them in an airtight container on the counter.
