Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and butter your cast iron skillet.
First, in a medium-sized bowl combine your dry ingredients. Flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Next, In a small bowl whisk together your wet ingredients. Whole milk, eggs, butter, and oil.
Pour your wet ingredients into the bowl with your dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Now add your batter into your prepared cast iron skillet and bake for 22-28 minutes. You will know your cornbread is done by inserting a toothpick into the center and having it come out clean.
Enjoy your cornbread as is or spruce it up a bit with softened butter, flaky sea salt, and a drizzle of honey.
